Preparing your editorial calendar in 5 steps.

By Kikeur Agency · · 4 min read

Posting “when you have time” means posting rarely. An editorial calendar solves the problem: you decide once, you prepare in advance, and you no longer have to hunt for an idea every morning.

1. Note the dates that matter

Start with the fixtures of the year: public holidays, celebrations, key retail moments, Luxembourg traditions, and the dates specific to your business (anniversary, trade fair, new product). Our marketing calendar lists the dates of the year, with a content idea for each one.

2. Choose three or four themes

An account that only talks about its offers soon becomes tiresome. Spread your posts across a few recurring themes:

  • Your expertise: advice, explanations, before and after.
  • Behind the scenes: the team, the workshop, a day at work.
  • Your customers: reviews, projects, thank-yous.
  • Your offers and news.

3. Set a pace you can sustain

One post a week all year round is better than five for a month, then nothing. Choose a pace you will keep up even during busy periods.

4. Prepare in advance

  • Two to three weeks before a date: visual, text, scheduling.
  • Four to six weeks before a key retail moment such as Black Friday, Christmas or Mother’s Day.
  • Batch your content creation: half a day a month is often enough to prepare the following month.

5. Review the results

Every month, look at what worked: the most viewed posts, the ones that prompted messages or enquiries. Keep what works, drop the rest.

To go faster

If time is short, there are two options: training to sharpen your method, or management of your social media by Kikeur Agency.
