Website, social media, video, print: a communication agency shapes your image for several years. Here are seven questions to ask before you sign, whichever agency you are meeting.
1. Who will be my point of contact?
Ask who will follow your project day to day and who will actually do the work. A team that produces the website, the content and the visuals itself keeps a consistency that is hard to achieve when each part is subcontracted to a different provider.
2. How does a project run?
A serious agency can describe its steps: scoping, proposal, creation, approval, launch, follow-up. Ask at which points you give your approval, and what happens if you want to change direction along the way.
3. Do you know the Luxembourg market?
Luxembourg has its own particularities: several languages, cross-border workers, local traditions, public grants such as SME Packages Digital. An agency based in the country knows when Mother’s Day falls in Luxembourg and why National Day matters so much.
4. Which languages do you work in?
Depending on your customers, you may need to communicate in French, German, Luxembourgish or English. Ask how the agency handles several languages: translation, adaptation, or creation in each language. Our article on languages in Luxembourg covers the question in detail.
5. Who owns the content?
Clarify from the start what is yours at the end of the project: the source files, the photos, the videos, the access to the website and to the social media accounts. You must remain the owner of your accounts and your domain name.
6. How do you measure results?
Be wary of promised figures before the project has even started. An honest agency explains what it measures (visits, contact requests, reach, engagement), how often it reports to you, and what does or does not depend on it.
7. What happens after delivery?
A website needs updates, social media needs regularity. Ask what is planned after launch: maintenance, improvements, training for your team.
In short
- A named point of contact and a team that does the work itself.
- A clear process, with approval stages.
- Real knowledge of Luxembourg.
- Content and access that belong to you.
- Follow-up after delivery.
