When someone searches for “bakery Esch” or “garage Dudelange”, Google first shows a map and three businesses. To be one of them, it all starts with your Google Business Profile. It is free.
What the profile is for
It is the panel that appears in Google and in Google Maps with your name, your address, your opening hours, your photos and your reviews. For many customers, it is their first contact with your business, even before your website.
The information to get right
- The name: the real name of the business, with no added keywords.
- The category: as precise as possible. It weighs heavily in the results.
- The address and service area: accurate, and identical to those on your website.
- The phone number: with the +352 dialling code.
- The opening hours: up to date, including for public holidays.
- The website and social media.
- The description: what you do, for whom and where, in simple sentences.
The golden rule: the same contact details everywhere
Google compares your profile, your website, your social media and the directories. A name, an address and a phone number written the same way everywhere strengthen your visibility. A difference, even a small one, weakens it.
Photos
Add your logo, your shopfront, the interior, the team and your work. Real, recent photos make people want to click, and help customers recognise you when they arrive.
Reviews
- Ask your satisfied customers for a review, straight after the service.
- Send them the direct link that the profile gives you.
- Reply to every review, including the critical ones, calmly and precisely.
- Never buy reviews and never write them yourself: it is forbidden and it shows.
Public holidays and posts
Remember to enter your special opening hours before each public holiday: a customer who finds the door closed when Google said “open” does not come back. The list is on our public holidays in Luxembourg page.
The profile also lets you publish news, offers and events. A post from time to time shows that the business is active.
